Events

Listed below, you can find a selection of meetings, which I am/was involved in as a convener, organizer or as a member of the scientific committee.

“Digital Geoarchaeology: using new technologies in interdisciplinary man-environmental research”. In cooperation with the Heidelberg Excellence-Initiative measure “Transcultural Studies”,  a conference focusing on digital geoarchaeology will be held at the Academy of Sciences Heidelberg in 2013.  It is part of a young researches funding concept that offers the unique opportunity to form a network of young international scientists from a broad range of disciplines. The conference contributions will be peer-reviewed and published in a special proceedings issue. More details can be found here.

Geoinformatik 2013Annual geoinformatics meeting organized by the German networks GiN e.V., GfGi and the geodata cluster GeoNet.MRN from 13.-15. March 2013 in Heidelberg. I will be chairing a special session on Energy and GIS on Thursday, 14 March 2013.

“Fachaustausch Geoinformation 2012” Official kick-off of the geodata cluster GeoNet.MRN on 22. November 2012 in Heidelberg. Further information on both the cluster and the meeting can be found here.

Advances in geoarchaeology: Using geomorphological techniques and digital applications for the analysis of past man-environment systems – session at the European Geosciences Union general assembly, EGU 2011, April 3rd-8th, Vienna, Austria; The symposium is under the patronage of the Working Group on Geoarchaeology (WG3) of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG). It will be hosted by Dr. Christoph Siart (Heidelberg), Dr. Matthieu Ghilardi (Aix-en-Provence) and Dipl.-Geogr. Markus Forbriger (Heidelberg).

The “7th annual meeting of the german working group on geoarchaeology” will be organized by the Geographical Institute of the Heidelberg University, May 6th-8th 2011. More details will be posted soon.

The “SCCH2011 – Scientific computing and cultural heritage” conference will be held in Heidelberg, Germany, from July 7th to 9th.  Dr. Christoph Siart will be involved as a part of the scientific committee. In cooperation with the Academy of Science, Baden Württemberg and endorsed by the German Excellency Initiative and the Heidelberg Graduate School (HGS), the workshop focuses on topics of computational and mathematical modeling in application areas of cultural heritage. This emerging new scientific area covers a variety of disciplines, such as informatics, geosciences, archaeology, assyrology, geoarchaeology, history etc.
